Skolovy Sends the Twins (almost) Streaking with a 4-2 Victory

“OK, we won a game yesterday. If we win today, it's called "two in a row". And if we win again tomorrow, it's called a "winning streak"... It has happened before!” -- Lou Brown.

Well it wasn’t the way they drew it up, but the boys in white came through with a win over the Cobras to run their record to 3 wins and 1 loss. The two game “winning streak” is just what the Twins needed as they enter the two and a half week break on a high note.

The game trudged along like Seth “Joseph” Richardson up the first baseline until the Twinkies decided to open it up in the bottom of the sixth with three runs. Reminiscent of a week prior, the trees seemed in the mood for more inspiration as a subtle MAKE SOME NOISE boomed across Heritage mountain. Taking note, Daniel Skolovy ripped a two run double plating Mateus and Lockwood to take the lead 4-1. His battle cry from second base was heard throughout the Tri-Cities as the rest of the league took note: these are not the 2016 Twins. The Cobras offered a tad of resistance in the bottom of the inning, but Skolovy once again slammed the door to finish off the game.

Highlights of the tilt included:

  • A thunderous 360 foot flyball by James Rouleau (it would have been out of Thompy!)

  • Spotty (yet improving) defense by Zoo at third, who was able to pick up the game's first RBI on a fielder’s choice

  • A 2/2 performance by Lockwood who also walked, finishing with a sparkling 1.000 OBP

  • Scorched base hits by Sunny Bute and Gerald Goch

  • A gutsy performance behind the dish by Nolan Veljacic who blocked balls like a young Jake Taylor

  • And a bulldog-like performance by Dan Skolovy with a 10K 0 BB performance.
